JAMMU, Aug 8: As Central Government abrogated Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, the Gorkha community said that this decision has ended 70 years trauma.
While talking to the Excelsior, the people of the Gorkha Community including women, youth and retd defence personnel narrated their ordeal, which they faced in absence of Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC). Click here to watch video
A meeting was also held by the ladies of the Gorkha Community at Gorakh Nath Temple to discuss the benefits after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A.
A group of ladies in the temple said that their children despite being highly qualified were working in private companies and schools in absence of PRC, adding that they are happy now as their children can now apply for Government jobs in Jammu and Kashmir.
They thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his full team for abrogating Article 370 and ending the 70 years trauma under which the Gorkha Community was living.
A retd army jawan Krishan Bahadur expressed happiness over abrogation of Article 370 and said his children faced many problems for want of PRC. “Now my children are happy as they can now apply for Government jobs”, he added.
“August 5, 2019 is like Dussehra and Diwali for the people of Gorkha Community and we celebrated the day with enthusiasm and fervour”, he added.
A youth, who aimed to join the defence forces but could not qualify in absence of PRC, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and President Ram Nath Kovind have provided justice to Gorkha Community by abrogating Article 370.
