ANANTNAG: About 28 per cent polling was recorded till 1500 hrs in Anantnag constituency, where byelection was held today amid unprecedented security arrangements against the backdrop of a boycott call by separatist organisations.
Polling which started at 0700 hrs on a very dull note has started picking up as the day progressed in the constituency, where Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti is pitted against seven other candidates.
An official spokesman said 28 per cent polling was recorded till 1500 hrs. Out of 23801 votes polled, 12948 were male.
The polling was by and large peaceful and there was no report of any untoward incident from any part of the constituency. (AGENCIES)
