JAMMU, Sept 22: Dropping enough hints of joining active politics and focusing on Marh Assembly constituency for playing a political inning, former president of Bar Association Jammu, Abhinav Sharma today appealed people to reject the traditional politicians who have made the elections as their profession rather than a means to serve the masses.
“Instead of becoming servants of the people, these politicians have become their masters and the little development made on ground during the last seventy years in Jammu division is testimony to the fact that these professional and traditional politicians have little concern and care for the common Dogras,” he said while addressing a press conference, here today.
“Abhinav Sharma alleged that if someone has benefited during this period, is the relatives of the so called elected representatives, their agents and a few workers,” he said and further alleged that the job of these traditional politicians remains confined to inauguration of black-topping of roads, cutting ribbons of showrooms and transformers rather than making laws for the benefit of the common man.
He further alleged that because of these politicians remaining mute to taking part in law making, there was at present no employment and education policy.
Focusing on Marh Assembly segment, Abhinav Sharma, who hails from Gajansoo in the area, lamented that notwithstanding the constituency starting at a distance of 12 kms from Winter Capital of the State, the area is one of the most backward constituencies of the State.
“There is no Degree college in the constituency with the result that students of Marh to Mishriwala have to traverse for three hours for higher education while there is only one Public Health Centre in the area where doctors are rarely available,” he lamented and added that erratic power supply, no adequate roads and no irrigation facility are the other grievances of locals.
Launching a direct attack on the sitting MLA for allegedly ignoring the common masses of the constituency, Abhinav Sharma also drew attention towards plights of people suffering a lot due to unprovoked firing from across the border and demanded reservation for the people of Marh constituency on the pattern of quota for LoC inhabitants.
Abhinav Sharma also demanded opening of a Government Degree college in March constituency, Sports stadium , Sub-District Hospital in the area, construction of bridge at Swanjhana, issuance of State Subjects to West Pak refugees and declaration of .public holiday on September 23 on account of Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary.
