SRINAGAR, Oct 27: Police today said that it recovered an abducted girl and arrested the kidnapper in Handwara area of Kupwara district.
A police spokesman said on October 25, police post Langate received a written complaint from one person (name withheld) resident of Langate that his minor daughter (name withheld) was kidnapped by one accused Ghulam Jeelani Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohd Sheikh, resident of Ferozpora Tangmarg.
“On receipt of this complaint, a case under FIR number 348/2017 under Section 363,109 RPC was registered and investigation was taken up,” he said, adding that during the course of investigation, police recovered the kidnapped girl from the possession of accused at Tangmarg.
“The accused was arrested and the victim girl was handed over to her family after completing all legal formalities. Investigation of the case is in progress,” the spokesman added.
