RAJOURI, Apr 9: A joint Army and Police team claimed to have seized an abandoned Haryana number vehicle and recovered 15 gms brown sugar and Rs 2 in Pakistani currency from it today.
A senior police official said Army naka party at Chingus intercepted a vehicle No. HR-51P/7698 and inquired about the destination from the two occupants. After brief questioning, the vehicle was allowed to move ahead. But the Army men got suspicious and they alerted the next naka and asked to conduct thorough search of the vehicle. At Kallar, the police and army men laid another naka to intercept this vehicle. They kept waiting for long but the vehicle did not reach there. Then they started moving towards Chingus side in another vehicle for search and found this Haryana number vehicle abandoned near a shop on the road side.
The police broke the lock and started search of the vehicle. They found 15 gms brown sugar and Rs 2 in Pakistani currency in the vehicle. From papers it was found that vehicle belonged to one Savita Konkar, resident of Sainik Colony Faridabad, at present 54-Shastri Nagar, Jammu.
The shopkeeper told police that two persons with two small bags came out of the vehicle and boarded a Rajouri bound bus. They also asked to take care of the vehicle as it was out of order. The police and Army laid nakas to different places to nab these two persons but they both were still out of police reach. The police suspected that they were carrying drugs or cash.
