“Aayakar Jyoti” reaches Jammu

JAMMU, July 19: In connection with celebration of 158th Income Tax Day falling on July 24, the Income Tax Department’s torch named “Aayakar Jyoti”, which started journey from Union Territory of Chandigarh on July 16, reached Jammu today.
The torch was received at Jammu by Principal Commissioner of Income Tax J&K R N Sahay and later it moved around the city at prominent places like Gandhi Nagar, Raghunath Bazaar, Vinayak Bazar and Aayakar Bhawan to make citizens aware of the contributions made by Income Tax Department in nation building.

The citizens were made aware of their role and duty in payment of income tax to fund various developmental schemes launched by the Government of India.
Additional Commissioner of Income Tax S K Sharma, eminent personalities like Padamshree Balwant Thakur, Paramveer Chakra awaredee Bana Singh and international gymnast Krupali were present on the occasion.
All trade associations, Institute of Chartered Account-ants and Income Tax Bar Association were also involved to make it a grand success.
Earlier, ‘Aayakar Jyoti’ was received at Madhopur by S K Sharma, Additional Commiss-ioner of Income Tax and Hardeep Singh Jolly, Income Tax Officer Kathua.
The torch was taken to Income Tax Office, Kathua through different areas of city where a function was held. The function was attended by eminent taxpayers and prominent members of society from different sphere of life.
On the occasion, Additional Commissioner of Income Tax and other speakers highlighted the purpose of journey of “Aayakar Jyoti ”  and importance of Income Tax Day.
“Aayakar Jyoti ”  is a great effort to acknowledge the contribution made by the taxpayers and to create awareness amongst masses about their duty towards the nation. After the function  “Aayakar Jyoti ”  reached Samba where it was received by M B Raizada, Income Tax Officer, Samba.
