SRINAGAR, Mar 1: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate for Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency today promised to clean the corrupt corridors of Government.
Raja Muzafar Bhat, a former RTI activist, whose name was announced by AAP in Delhi to contest Parliament elections against National Conference patron Farooq Abdullah from Central Kashmir, addressed his supporters at Municipal Park here in the afternoon.
Bhat, who camouflaged his political ambition under RTI activism, “promised to fight against corruption, unemployment and illegal control on power projects by National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) in the State”.
“As an RTI activist I have proof of dozens of scams in all the Government Departments through which hundreds of crores of rupees have been swindled by some politicians in nexus with bureaucrats,” Bhat said, adding, the NC and Congress led Government has patronized corruption in the State.
Lambasting NC for its false promises, Raja said Abdullah family is involved in the “murder” of its party worker Haji Yousuf and scams like Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. He appealed people to vote in his favour to end this dynasty rule in the State.
“What NC promised in 2008 election manifesto was not delivered and instead it turned the State into corruption hub,” alleged Raja.
He promised that his focus would be to address the day to day issues of general public including end to the menace of corruption, eradication of unemployment and fight to get power projects back from NHPC. “I talked to Party President Arvind Kajriwal, he promised me that AAP would support us to solve these issues for the well being of general public,” he said.
Raja called upon the young population to use their energies, potential in shaping a new political order in the State based on truth and honesty. “Youth in Kashmir are well educated and they must read the documents related to contract of NHPC and other Centrally sponsored schemes,” he said.
