SSP conducts traffic awareness prog

DODA, Nov 16: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Traffic NHW Ramban Jatinder Singh Johar conducted traffic awareness programme here in order to spread traffic safety awareness among the drivers and commuters.
SSP was accompanied by Pankaj Sodan, DySP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar.
SSP Traffic interacted with district administration and other stake holders to ensure increased synergy among all the stake holders for road safety of passengers and also educate the public about the rules and regulations and ensuring safe travel on the roads. He also inspected the spot of accident on Khelani Marmat road at Verani near Panchani Nallah where a tragic accident had taken place on November 12.
SSP briefed the traffic police men deployed in twin district to check the violation of traffic rules especially in visible offences like overloading, over-speeding, non-wearing of crash helmets and seat belt, use of mobile phones while driving and stringent implementation of amended Motor Vehicle Act.
He apprised the drivers and commuters about the MVA and Rules and precaution to be taken while on road. He added that obeying of traffic rules is not only our own safety but also can save the lives of others from being victims of accidents.
He briefed about hazards of traffic violation like driving two wheelers without proper helmet, triple riding, driving without seat belt, overloading, over speeding, use of mobile while driving, and other offences in which human lives are directly involved.
The participants were made cognizant about the fact that accidents are predictable and preventable. They were also made aware of the penalties associated with various offences and were made aware of good Samaritan law and need to act as responsible citizens and help others in time of need and help prevent post-crash complications.
