RAMBAN, Sept 2: Advisors to Governor, K.K Sharma and K Skandan today visited Ramban and reviewed the development scenario in the district besides interacting with members of civil society, political leaders, several deputations and individuals during a series of meetings held here today.
Deputy Commissioner, Nazim Zai Khan, SSP Anita Sharma, SSP Traffic, J.S Johar, ADDC, Nawab Din, ADC, Dr. Basharat Hussain, ACR Harbans Lal, CPO Kasturi Lal, SE PWD, district officers, members of MCs, Sarpanchs, Panchs, members of civil society and political leaders attended the meetings.
Advisors reviewed the functioning of various departments including Soil Conservation, Forest, Animal, Sheep Husbandry, Fisheries, RDD, PWD, PDD, PHE, Irrigation, Sericulture, Tourism, Education, Sports, Health, etc. They also discussed the bottlenecks hindering implementation of schemes and execution of development works under different departments.

They also took stock of progress on Railway and National Highway Four Laning Project. They directed the Forest and Social Conservation Department to work for stabilizing the soil along the construction sites of projects where earth work is completed. Besides, PWD was directed to construct drainage in Mompassi area.
The Advisors asked the Superintendent Engineer PWD to start work on Maitra Bridge over river Chenab and ensure its timely completion.
They asked CEO Ramban to make functional newly constructed Girls Hostel at Kanthi besides directing PWD to construct fencing wall of the hostel.
Meanwhile, Advisor K.K Sharma reviewed formulation of District Security Plan and directed PHE to ensure pipe line water supply to every household in the district till 2022 under the scheme launched by Union Ministry for Jal Shakti.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner made a presentation regarding progress and achievements of all the departments besides status of execution of works on major projects including Degree College Banihal and Gool, District Administrative Complex Ramban, 50 Bedded Hospital Banihal, Revenue Complex, Conference Hall and Indoor Stadium Gool, Munsif Court Complex, Ukhral, Gujjer and Bakarwal Boys Hostel Ramban,
Advisors also interacted with the public delegations and individuals and listened to their issues assuring them an early redressal of their issues.
The issues raised by the individuals and the delegations included shortage of staff in schools and health institutions, establishment of Solid Waste Management Plant, functioning of Trauma Hospital, completion and up gradation of PMGSY roads, payments of PMAY beneficiaries, filtration plant for Maitra, solar lights for Neel and Pogal areas, implementation of Back to Village programme’s recommendations, Broadband facility for Panchyats, inclusion of left out people under AYUSH BHARAT scheme, start of Sawalakot Hydro Power Project work, functioning of JNV School, opening of social welfare office at Batote besides demands pertaining to Tourism, Animal/ Sheep Husbandry, Revenue, Education, Health, PHE, Forest and other departments.
Advisors assured the people that all their grievances would be examined for redressal.
Later, Advisors visited Reasi and reviewed district’s developmental scenario.
At the outset, a detailed presentation was given by Deputy Commissioner Indu Kanwal Chib through which she highlighted development activities in the district.
Advisor K Skandan laid stress on doubling the income of village households. He also asked district officers to identify skill deficiency and develop particular skill sets among the natives. The Advisor asked to lay thrust on developing niche industry to promote local produce. Skandan also asked the district administration to work out a plan to promote horticulture, fisheries and floriculture activities in the district. He also advocated for hiring resource persons from outside J&K to help these sectors flourish.
Reviewing the development activities and issues hampering some major sectors, Advisor KK Sharma directed the DC to identify bottlenecks and sort out fund issues at the earliest. He assured full assistance by the government in early resolution of the issues. The Advisor directed the Forest Department to grant prompt permissions regarding land clearance for road projects.
After detailed discussion and examination of reports presented by various departments, the two Advisors listened to people’s issues.
Delegations from Pouni, Thakrakote, Mahore, Gulabgarh and various other blocks raised their issues and grievances. Delegations from Municipal Committees of Katra and Reasi were also present.
Advisor KK Sharma assured that the pace of development, particularly remote areas, would increase unprecedentedly. He assured that special attention would be paid towards minority affairs, skill development and development of basic amenities like drinking water and road connectivity to villages under PMGSY.
