JAMMU, Feb 20: A pregnant woman as well her baby died due to alleged negligence of doctors in Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar.
According to the reports, a man identified as Anil Verma, resident of Satwari Chowk took his pregnant wife (of about 8 months) to Government Hospital, Gandhi Nagar in the morning of February 18 after she complained of low pain in her abdomen.
As per the husband, he reached the hospital with the patient at about 8 AM but the doctor came to attend her in the labour room at about 9 AM. He said her wife was fine till 11 AM as she alone walks up to washroom of the hospital.
The husband said suddenly at about 11:45, the doctors handover dead bodies of his wife and the baby to him. He alleged that her wife and the baby died due to negligence of a lady doctor, who attends her wife from starting to end though she belongs to Pathology department and is not a Gynae doctor.
“We have submitted a written complaint against the hospital and the doctor at police station Gandhi Nagar,” Anil Verma, the husband of deceased pregnant woman said, adding they wanted a fair probe into the matter as to how a Pathology doctor was allowed to deal a gynae patient.
SHO police station, Gandhi Nagar, Inspector Sunil Jasrotia, however said that no case has been registered in this connection as of now, as the aggrieved family approached the police on next day of the incident that too after performing last rites of the deceased woman and her baby. “We are conducting enquiry into the matter,” he added.
