JAMMU, Feb 20: Army today paid a befitting tributes to martyr Naik Sandeep who made the supreme sacrifice yesterday. He succumbed to his injurious sustained during Ratnipura encounter on February 12.
A statement issued by the Defence spokesman said: “In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the martyr on behalf of a proud nation. Representatives from other security agencies also joined in paying their last respects to the martyr.”
“Late Naik Sandeep sustained bullet injuries during the fierce operation in Ratnipura of Pulwama district on February 12, in which one terrorist was eliminated. He was provided immediate first aid and evacuated to 92 Base Hospital. Despite all efforts by the doctors to save his life, he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries on 19 Feb 2019”, the spokesman said.
The martyr, Naik Sandeep was 32 years old and had joined the Army in 2005. He belonged to village Atali of Ballabh Garh Tehsil, Faridabad District of Haryana and is survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons.
The mortal remains of the martyr were flown for last rites to his native place. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the martyr and remains committed to their dignity and well being.
