JAMMU, Dec 27: Giving a extraordinary show talent at such a young age, Sushant Sathu, the prodigious local student of violin, not only impressed the stalwarts at Haribhallava Sangeet Sammelan, Jallandhar, but also bagged first position in non-percussion event in junior category.
Annual congregation of classical music maestros and practitioners of all ranks, the prestigious Haribhallava Sangeet Sammelan, is also testing ground for young talents where competitions in various categories are organized. The honour to Sushant Sathu is also being considered as recognition of Jammu’s ongoing ancient guru-shishaya prampara in Hindustani classical music.
The competition was held from December 25, 2012 and Shri Haribhallava Sangeet Mahasabha, gave the awards on December 27, 2012. During the competition, the young musicians played Raag-a-Bahirav. The bilmabit khayal was in ek taal while chhota khayal and zhaala were in teen taal. Jammu’s senior tabla player Purshottam Kumar accompanied Shusant Sathu.
Presently studying in class 7th, at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Gandhi Nagar, Sushant Sathu, son of Satish Kumar and Basanti Sathu, is a disciple of local violin maestro Bahadhur Singh from whom he has been learning music since few years. The young talent has already won many prizes and certificates of merit at various music competitions organized at Jammu.
