JAMMU, Dec 19: Police today smashed an illicit liquor kiln in Reasi and also seized 60 pouches of liquor from a bootlegger in Udhampur.
A specific information was received at P/S Reasi that two persons namely Mohinder Kumar and Des Raj of Tanda were indulged in manufacturing of illicit liquor. On this information, a Police party rushed to the spot and conducted raid and recovered two liters desi liquor and 45 liters of lahan from the possession of both the accused persons. Recovered liquor was seized while the lahan was destroyed on the spot. Both the accused persons have been arrested and a case FIR No. 263/2017 U/S 48-(a) (e) (f) Excise Act has been registered at Police Station Reasi.
Meanwhile, Police seized 60 pouches of illicit liquor at village Tikri in Udhampur district.
Based on a reliable information, police parties of PS Rehambal and Police Post Tikri intercepted the accused at Kagha when he was on way from Dhanu towards Sundrani on his motorcycle bearing registration number JK14B-0673. 60 pouches of illicit liquor were recovered from possession of the accused, identified as Raj Singh of Sundrani, Udhampur.
In this connection, a case U/S 48(a) Excise Act has been registered at PS Rehambal.
