IT Minister, AGs, SAC delegation call on Governor

JAMMU, Dec 19: Imran Raza Ansari, Minister for Information Technology, Technical Education and Youth Services & Sports, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today.
Ansari briefed Governor about the functioning of various departments under his charge and the measures initiated to give impetus to sports, youth activities and related activities in the State.
Governor advised Ansari to very early issue a calendar of all the sports and games competitions which are planned to be organized in each of the 22 districts and at the State level in 2018. He also advised the Minister to see that the Sports Department organises Inter-State Level Championships in identified sports and games to provide J&K youth opportunities to enhance their skills.
Sushil Kumar Thakur, Accountant General (Audit) and Shourjo Chatterjee, Accountant General (Accounts and Entitlement) also called on Governor.
The two Accountants General briefed Governor about the areas of State Government functioning which have been audited in the recent past for promoting a transparent framework of policy, rules and regulations and encouraging efficiency and accountability in the functioning of the entire administrative apparatus.
Governor discussed with AGs the need for all required steps being taken to secure the maintenance of transparency, financial probity and fiscal discipline in the governmental machinery of J&K State.
Governor informed the Accountants General that on the basis of earlier reports of the CAG, which brought out extremely serious aberrations and deviations from the norm, he had advised the State Government to constitute a High Level Committee of senior officers to ensure time bound further action and implementation of the CAG’s Reports. He has been writing to Chief Minister in this regard and hoped that all necessary action will be taken.
A 13 member delegation of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) led by its President, S. Gurdev Singh also called on Governor.
The delegation requested the Governor to impress upon the Central and the State Governments to prepare a comprehensive roadmap for the final settlement of their demand for being paid compensation for their properties in PoK; compensation for the deficiencies in the lands earlier allotted to them; paid reimbursement for the areas of land not allotted to them, employment package and reservation of seats for their wards in technical institutions and Government jobs; speedy cash disbursement of Rs. 2000 crore package meant for Displaced Persons (DPs) of 1947, 1965 and 1971; all such DPs being categorized as beneficiaries of the Rs 2000 crore package, particularly those whose records are missing from the PRO’s office; simplification of procedure for  obtaining Permanent Resident Certificates by the DPs.
Governor informed the JKSAC that he had earlier also taken up their problems with the Union Home Minister and the Chief Minister and would address them again.
