Woman dies of poisoning, parents protest alleging murder

JAMMU, Dec 12: A woman today died of poisoning in RS Pura, triggering protest from her parents and relatives, who alleged that she was murdered by her in-laws.
Quoting Hans Raj, father-in-law of the deceased, a police official said that the woman identified as Reena Devi (30) wife of Red Rose Kumar, resident of Jandlehar (RS Pura) allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence this morning following which she was shifted to nearby hospital in RS Pura.
“However, in view of her serious condition, the woman was referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where she was declared as brought dead by the doctors”, the official said, adding, as soon as the parents of the woman got this tragic news, they and their other close relatives reached GMCH Jammu and staged protest near mortuary room alleging that their daughter was murdered by their in-laws, who used to torture her time and again.
He further told that a scuffle also broke out between the parents of the woman and her in-laws but the police officials present on the spot pacified both the parties and assured the deceased woman’s parents of a fair probe into the matter.
When contacted, SHO RS Pura, Inspector Bishnesh Sharma, said that body of the deceased woman was handed over to her parents for last rites while a case in this connection was registered under relevant sections and investigations are being done from all angles.
