BUDGAM, Oct 30: Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is on threshold of a big socio-economic revolution, the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today said that a well conceived development strategy with focus on better road connectivity, education and health facilities is underway in every nook and corner of the State to ensure balanced development of all areas.
Addressing a series of public gatherings after laying foundation stones of Government High School buildings at Watkullo and Sani Darwan in tehsil Chadoora today, Rather said provision of basic amenities to improve the living standard of the people is the first priority of the present dispensation, adding that all the available resources are being pooled for this purpose.
Each of the proposed school buildings will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 50 lakh with a capacity of 10 class rooms, provision for lavatory blocks, drinking water and electricity facilities.
The Minister was accompanied by the Chief Education Officer Budgam, Nazir Ahmad, Executive Engineer, R&B, Chadoora, Showkat Hussain, Executive Engineer PMGSY, Mehraj-ud-Din Haji, Executive Engineer PDD, G H Mir and concerned officers of the district administration Budgam.
Mr. Rather said objective of conducting regular tours to far flung and backward areas alongwith the officers and engineers is to take the administration on the door steps of the people to get acquaintance about the grievances of the people on the spot and to seek just and timely redressal of these grievances.
He said the development programme launched by the Central and State Governments has totally revolutionised the world of road communication, adding that PMGSY is now on tip of the tongue of every rural person.
The PMGSY has done wonders as unimaginable hilly belts and difficult terrains have been brought on the road map of the State and the scheme will prove a harbinger for a big socio-economic transformation in the state in near future,” he said and asked the officers and engineers to listen to the problems highlighted by the people during the tour and try to redress their grievances as per their expectations.
Responding to the demands of the people, Rather said that water supply scheme, Darwan Nowgam will be augmented to cope with the increasing demand of the people.
Rather also paid obeisance at the shrine of Hazrat Mir Syed Samnani at Watkullo where his Dastar Bandi was performed by the locals.
He said that a team of engineers will be send soon to formulate a plan for Ziarat Sharief. He also announced to construct a spacious building for Primary Health centre at Watkullo.
Rather said that Rs. 24 crore Chrar-i-Sharief-Yusmarg-Pakherpora road and Rs. 16 crore Nagam-Gogjipathri road under PMGSY are nearing completion which will give a big boost to the tourism and economic activities in these areas.
