Sagar for expediting restoration work at Dastigeer Shrine

SRINAGAR, Oct 30: Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the officers to ensure that restoration work on the revered shrine of Dastigeer Sahib (RA) be completed within the shortest possible time and the executing agencies should work in synergy so that the bottlenecks if any are removed.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting and on spot inspection of the pace of the work being carried out on the restoration of Dastigeer Sahib shrine here today.
Vice Chairman Wakf Board, M.Y. Qadri, Managing Director JKPCC, Gupta, Chief Engineer R&B, Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, State Convener INTACH, Saleem Beig and various senior officers of different departments and executing agencies were present on the occasion.
Mr. Sagar directed the officers to ensure that the pace of work be speeded up and they should also explore the double shift mode of working so that the shrine is completed as early as possible. He also directed them to ensure that there is no deviation from the older architectural patterns and in this regard they should be in constant touch with INTACH for the expert advice and guidance.
The Minister also asked the officers to carry on the proposed beautification work of the catchment areas of the shrine and in this regard adequate compensation should be provided to the families/shopkeepers whose structures are being acquired. He said that it should also be carried out inconsonance with the local architecture and taste.
Mr. Sagar also directed the concerned to ensure that the newly constructed mosque which is an extension to the shrine is completed by April this year so that the devotees can perform their religious duties there.
