JAMMU, Nov 24: The Departmental Related Standing Committee (DRSC-I) today underscored the need for taking innovative steps to boost the activities across the State under industries sector pivotal for providing more employment opportunities to the unemployed educated youth.
The Committee, which met here under the chairmanship of MLC Ghulam Nabi Monga, reviewed the overall functioning of Industries and Commerce (I&C) Department besides its allied departments.
Legislators, Ali Mohammad Dar, Ashok Khajuria, Dr Bashir Ahmad Shah (Veeri) and Showkat Ahmad Ganaie attended the meeting as Committee members. The members during the meeting gave their valuable suggestions for improvement in the working of industries sector in the State.
The Committee directed I&C Department for conducting survey to identify the land in various districts for setting up various kinds of industrial units for skilled youth.
The panel also suggested for introducing e-commerce system in the department to increase the value and marketing of different products produced by the artisans in the State.
The Committee also reviewed LoC Trade from Uri and Chakan-da-Bagh Poonch and it was informed that the trade is running smoothly.
Commissioner Secretary I & C Shailender Kumar, Director Handicrafts, Director Handloom, Directors I&C, Kashmir and Jammu divisions, besides other senior officers of I&C department and Council Secretariat attended the meeting.
Commissioner Secretary, I&C briefed the Committee about implementation of several schemes for promotion of industrial activities in the State.
