JAMMU, Nov 8: A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Female Multi-Purpose Workers’ Welfare Association led by Vinod Kumar Sharma, secretary general of JKMEF and under the supervision of Sushil Sudan, president of JKMEF, met Director, Family Welfare, MCH and Immunization, J&K, Dr Baldev Raj Sharma to put forth their burning demands.
In the meeting, the leaders of Female Multi Purpose Health Workers (FMPHWs) highlighted their demands including release of salary of FMPHWs working under 2211 Family Welfare which is pending for the last eight months and permanent solution of Salary Head 2211 in Health and Family Welfare Department.
The delegation informed the Director that previous assurances given by Director, Family Welfare and the Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Dr MK Bhandari, were not fulfilled even after the lapse of eight months and the deadline September 2016 has already passed but even now there is no sign of any fruitful action from the administrative side.
The delegation members said, “All the female workers are suffering to their limits. Some of the members of the Association are suffering from life consuming disease but are not in a position to get treatment in light of non-payment salary from the last eight months. It becomes a mere mockery that on one side our Prime Minister is talking about the welfare of women and giving slogans of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padao’ but for what, to die of starving without salaries”.
Later, Dr Baldev, after listening to the grievances of FMPHWs assured them of early redressal of their problems and committed to release all the pending dues by the end of this month. Further, he added that after clearing all the pending dues permanent solution for 2211 head will be done very soon.
