NEW DELHI, Oct 4: The Advisor to Chief Minister, Prof Amitabh Mattoo today called for pursuing and promoting the vision of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to facilitate lasting peace in the sub-continent.
“Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was a firm believer of non-violence and advocated peace, and urged people to live in harmony and shun all forms of violence,” the Advisor said while interacting with academicians and members of civil society here.
Prof Mattoo said the former Chief Minister always believed and advocated the medium of dialogue for resolving the long pending issues, and also stressed for making it inclusive and broad-based.
The Advisor said that Mufti Sayeed believed in a simple philosophy of promoting a vibrant democracy which would percolate to the grassroots and ensure empowerment of the political and democratic institutions in the state. “Contribution rendered by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for sustainment of peace and overall development of the State is historic and would be remembered for ages,” he said.
Prof Mattoo said the Mufti Sayeed had created a vision for Jammu and Kashmir that laid down the necessary roadmap for the future of the State. He said Mufti Sayeed was not just the face of PDP but a reflection of the sentiments of the people, besides being one of the most visionary politicians and statesman who was respected across the party lines.
