RAJOURI, Oct 1: Minister for Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today pitched for peace on borders saying such situation cause disruption in the process of development.
He, however, said that the State Government was focused on development and committed to support efforts to defuse tension on the borders.
The Minister was speaking at public gatherings after laying foundation stones of Girl Hostels at Nagrota and Peeri. Being constructed at a cost of Rs 2.82 crore each, these hostels would provide accommodation to 200 girls.
Asserting that war is no solution to any problem, he said it yields nothing but destruction and brings agony to generations to come.
He said emerging situation has troubled the people on border areas as they are forced to leave their homes. “But we are   fully prepared to ensure the safety of civilians,” he added.
“To uplift the living standards of the common people through development is the priority of the present Coalition Government and we are in no way in favor of war,” he said.
Since the Coalition Government has taken the charge the State is moving ahead with great enthusiasm on the path of development and many mega developmental projects have been taken up which have started yielding results on the ground, he asserted.
Citing the instance of Darhal constituency, the minister said   in last one year whopping Rs 700 crore projects have been taken up to catapult the developmental landscape of this hitherto neglected area. “Similarly, Government is spending huge funds on developmental projects in all other parts of the State and an ostensible change will be visible in due course of time”, he added.
Referring to the development of educational infrastructure,   he said to overcome the problem of accommodation for the girls the Government is constructing one girls hostel each in all the educationally backward blocks of the State. The minister also stressed upon the people to educate their wards with special emphasis on the girl child as it is very necessary for the overall development of the society. The minister also laid foundation stone of store of Department of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs at Peeri.
Director Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Jammu G.S.Chib, Additional District Development Commissioner Avtar Singh Chib, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, executive  engineers of PHE, PDD, PWD beside all the district and sectoral officers were present on the occasion.
