JAMMU, Sept 2: The tanker operators from Jammu division today resolved to resume supplies to Kashmir and Ladakh after a high level meeting with the Chief Secretary and DGP at Srinagar today.
Official sources said that representatives from J&K Oil Tanker Owners Association including Davinder Singh Pappi, Manmohan Singh and Surinder Singh and president, Tanker Drivers and Cleaners Union Khair Din Wani and office bearer Koushal Kumar from Jammu after detailed meeting with the DGP K Rajindra, Chief Secretary B R Sharma, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Basheer Khan, IGP Kashmir and senior Army officials resolved to resume fuel supplies to Kashmir.
General secretary of the Association, Shashi Leekha told the Excelsior that DGP and Chief Secretary assured full security to the tanker operators at all the vulnerable points in Kashmir and also mentioned that Army supplies will go with the Army convoy. They assured that security grid has been strengthened and there will be no problem in operation. The tankers will move under SOP in convoy from Jawahar Tunnel onwards at 9 am daily. After the assurance from Govt, the supplies have been restored to Kashmir from Saturday onwards, Mr Leekha said.
