Pak violates ceasefire in Akhnoor

JAMMU, Sept 2: Pakistani troops today violated border ceasefire by resorting to small arms and mortar firing along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jogma area of Akhnoor sector this morning.
“Pakistani soldiers initiated indiscriminate firing at around 11.45 am targeting forward posts of the Indian Army along the LoC in Jogma and surrounding areas of Akhnoor sector,” official sources said.
Pakistani troops also fired few mortars towards Indian side during ceasefire violation, they said.
The Army responded appropriately in a controlled and measured manner, sources said, adding the “intermittent firing continued for quite some time.
There has been no loss of life or injury to anyone on the Indian side of the border, the sources added.
It may be mentioned here that an Army jawan was killed and another injured in Jogma area of Akhnoor sector couple of days back while thwarting infiltration attempt by three militants from Pakistan side.
