Govt committed to provide all support for startup scheme: Ganga

JAMMU, June 4: State Government is committed to provide all support and is ready to stand up with the startups of Jammu and Kashmir, said Chander Parkash Ganga, Industries Minister, while speaking on a round table discussion on proposed startup scheme for J&K, organized by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here.
The Industries Minister said, “We are already providing cheap land, infrastructural and financial support to new business ideas in the State. I am happy that CII has suggested this scheme at the most appropriate time as it is a new era of creating investments from the State and mentoring innovative business ideas. I am glad to see representatives from all relevant sectors to be part of this initiative”.
The round table discussion was first of its kind platform where stakeholders from academia, industry, banking and startup funding sectors from all over the State jointly discussed the proposed  startup scheme of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on the occasion CII chairman Sheikh Imran said, “We expect investments from other states and countries and invite them in our State. What we really need is a robust mechanism which would enable us to create opportunities within the State”. He said CII will organize series of such workshops and startup clinics in all universities of the State to take this initiative further. He also gave detailed representation on the roadmap of startup scheme suggested by CII.
Vice chairman of CII Rahul Sahai, while expressing gratitude to Chander Parkash Ganga for attending the discussion also thanked Prof Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University Jammu, for leading the initiative forward under his leadership.
Prof Ashok Aima briefed Mr Ganga on the initiatives that CII and Central University are jointly taking up for fostering the startup ecosystem in the State. He called for stronger industry-academia partnership for skills and entrepreneurship development.
Ms Lakshmi Kaul shared her concern on the fact that despite of having all sorts of resources, our State has almost everything coming from outside. She stressed on making in J&K and selling it outside.
Sushant Nayak, who had come from Mumbai, spoke on providing funds to the innovative ideas of this State. He said, “I am happy to contribute as an investor to the unique business ideas of the youth of the State. I am thankful to CII for having invited me and I will be happy to be part of this initiative for building entrepreneurship environment here”.
A large number of dignitaries including Director Industries and Commerce Dr Rajinder Singh Tara, MD SIDCO Amit Sharma, Prof Saad Parvez, Prof B C Sharma, Prof Abdul Gani, Prof T Ganai, Babar Afzal, Ashutosh Bajaj, Shivang Satya Gupta were among the active contributors of ideas for the round table discussion.
