REASI, May 19: An under-trial prisoner committed suicide by hanging himself in bathroom of a barrack in Sub Jail Reasi, last night.
The deceased has been identified as Ashok Kumar, son of Hans Raj of Ransoo. He was facing trail in a murder case and had been in prison for the last six years.
According to Police, the under-trail hanged himself with bed sheet in bathroom of barrack number 1 of the sub jail. Even as some inmates of the same barrack pulled him out the noose with no time and he was also rushed to District Hospital Reasi, doctors declared him as brought dead.
According to Police, a suicide note was also recovered from the barrack, in which the deceased had pledged his innocence in the murder case.
Meanwhile the DC Reasi has constituted an enquiry committee, headed by Tehsildar Reasi, to look into the suicide case.
