DB directive on old age home

JAMMU, Feb 17: In a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Viklang Chattra Trust seeking better care of old age home, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Tashi Rabstan today directed the Secretary to Govt Revenue department to consider the proposal of Dy Commissioner Jammu regarding transfer of 16 kanals land at village  Ghaink in Bhalwal for the construction of composite home for old age persons and orphan children.
After hearing senior Advocate Sunil Sethi, the  Division Bench further observed that Secretary to Govt, Revenue Department, who was present in the Court, produced Government Order No. 25 – Rev (S) of 2016 dated 11.02.2016 granting sanction for transferring the State land measuring 23 kanals and 2 marlas, falling under Survey Nos. 819, 920 and 823 of  village Ghaink, Tehsil Bhalwal, District Jammu to Social Welfare Department for establishment of a Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for persons with disabilities, at Jammu.
The Bench further observed that counsel appearing for the Social Welfare Department sought time to get further instructions regarding the construction of old age home.
So far as the construction of Composite Home at Srinagar is concerned,  the Division Bench directed Secretary to Government Revenue Department to consider the proposal already pending with him, within four weeks and report compliance.
