POONCH, Dec 8: Senior National Conference leader and MLA Mendhar Javed Rana today called for opening of more routes like Tatta Pani for cross LoC trade between India and Pakistan.
With Foreign Ministers talks taking place tomorrow in Pakistan, Mr Rana said opening of more routes should also be discussed in the talks. He said opening of more routes wouldn’t only enhance people to people contact, but also give considerable fillip to trade activities.
Rana was speaking after laying foundation stone of Bacheri bridge in Balnoi and inaugurating Health Sub Centre in Upper Gohlad of Mendhar constituency. He said that border areas of Rajouri – Poonch even lack basic health facilities. There is no proper infrastructure in place and medicines available are sub- standard. He said that he is hopeful that incumbent Minister Ch Lal Singh will play a vital in improving health infrastructure and put a proper mechanism in place to check the quality of medicine that is being supplied in the State especially border areas.
While taking strong note regarding misuse of allotted funds for construction of roads, Mr Rana said that Malikpur- Dharana-Gohald roads which were constructed under PMGSY, NABARD and State sector, huge funds were allotted on these roads but the their condition is pathetic. Rana said that this matter will be taken up with the higher authorities and work for the up-gradation of road will be started soon.
