JAMMU, Dec 8: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Sham Lal Sharma today alleged that BJP has adopted appeasement policy towards separatists and the party is more worried about `those elements’ than those who voted them to power.
Launching scathing attack on BJP led Central Government and State Government led by Mufti Mohd Sayeed during Congress meeting at Akhnoor today, Sham Lal alleged that Jammu people are being betrayed by BJP. He accused BJP-PDP Coalition of diverting the attention of the masses from their basic problems.
Mr Sharma said that State people are demanding good governance and seeking resolution of their problems but the BJP is befooling them with solutions of the two countries’ bi-lateral disputes. On ground level, people especially in rural and border areas are crying for ration, LPG cylinders, fertilizers, drinking water, power supply and other civic amenities. He lambasted BJP-PDP Coalition for its utter failure to provide basic amenities to public.
The Congress leader alleged that the Administration has virtually collapsed. It has added to the woes of all sections of people. He said the handicapped people as well as old aged are crying for their monthly pension. PM Modi seems more keen in bullet train than providing road connectivity in remote areas of State, he added.
Mr Sharma expressed serious concern towards non- funding of the ongoing projects which were at the final stage of completion. He charged BJP with patronizing transfer industry in State which has put all postings/ transfers on sale, demoralizing the honest bureaucrats.
Showing concern over deteriorated law and order situation in Akhnoor constituency, Mr Sharma called upon BCC rank and file to unitedly work to keep watch on local administration so that peace, honor and dignity of the Akhnoor masses could be protected.
Senior Congress leaders Kuldeep Verma, Ram Swarup, Ch Sham Lal, Th Nasib Singh, Ram Rattan, Raj Rani and Aman Gupta also spoke on the occasion.
