BHADERWAH, Nov 28: Minister of State for R&B and Revenue, Sunil Kumar Sharma today called for making the Chenab Valley area a knowledge hub to connect its youth intellectually to the outside world.
“The Bhaderwah campus of the Jammu University can play key role in expanding the import and scope of the academic activities in the region,” Mr Sharma said while speaking at a function organized in connection with the launch of 4-day Youth Festival, Sangam-2015, being jointly organized by the Bhaderwah Campus and the 4 Rashtriya Rifles of the Army.
The Minister also called for establishing Village Knowledge Centers in Chenab Valley area which will benefit the educated youth by providing them with the academic and other information and feedback on various activities.
MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Parihar, Professor R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof G M Bhat, Rector Bhaderwah Campus, Commander 4 Sector RR, civil, military, paramilitary and police officers, Principals and Teachers of Colleges/Schools, prominent citizens of the area, besides a large number of people were present on the occasion.
The Minister also suggested organizing international scientists meet at Bhaderwah Campus to reflect on the huge natural resources of the region. He said the University campus should prepare a booklet depicting the natural resources of Chenab region and showcase the same globally.
On the demand of introducing science subjects in the Bhaderwah campus, the Minister asked Rector to prepare a blueprint for developing Bhaderwah campus as a model campus. He assured that the matter of developing Bhaderwah campus as centre of quality learning will be taken up with the Union Minister for Human Resource Development.
MLA Bhaderwah Daleep Singh Parihar also lauded the efforts of RR and Bhaderwah Campus for organizing such a gala event which will benefit the local youth.
Professor R D Sharma, Vice Chancellor University of Jammu in his address praised the Armed forces for encouraging such constructive activities in the region which help in diverting the energies of the youth in proper direction.
Rector Bhaderwah Campus Prof. GM Bhat and CO 4RR in their welcome address congratulated the youth of Chenab valley for shunning the path of violence and embracing education and knowledge leading to self development and enriching the society.
