Model Training Course on ICT begins at SKUAST Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 2: An eight day interdisciplinary Model Training Course on “Information and Communication Technology (ICT)  Applications” began today at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology  (SKUAST)  Jammu.
In this course, training interventions on various aspects of ICT tools, which are useful for the transfer of technology in agriculture and allied fields to the farmers, will be imparted to the trainees.
Dr Pradeep K Sharma, Vice Chancellor SKUAST Jammu, interacted  with the delegates and stressed on the need of ICT in present scenario of extension system as the ratio between the extension workers and the farmers is very wide and, as such the ICT tools available with the farming community should be used to bridge this gap.
The training programme has been sponsored by the Directorate of Extension, Ministry of Agriculture and farmers’ welfare, Govt of India. A total number of 21 delegates from the State Line Departments of Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir are participating in the training programme. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, SKUAST Jammu, Dr  R M Bhagat, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, SKUAST Jammu and Dr Rakesh Nanda, Course instructor of the MTC.
