Prize distribution function organized

JAMMU, Dec 19: The Department of Environmental Sciences, University of Jammu organized a valedictory cum prize distribution function to honour the volunteers and students who participated in series of awareness activities organized by the department on important environmental related days.
These activities included Painting and Declamation Contest in Activity Public Hr Sec. School, Janipur and Painting competition in Shiksha Niketan School, Jeevan Nagar , ‘Save Tawi Campaign’ on the banks of River Tawi and Signature Campaign, Slogan writing,  On-spot Poster making competition in University of Jammu, smokeless and pollution free Diwali etc.
JU Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, who was chief guest on the occasion, called for making judicious use of the natural resources. He said that it becomes the responsibility of every citizen to wisely use the natural resources available to the mankind otherwise they won’t last forever if we continue to use them excessively.
Prof K K Sharma, Dean Life Sciences, in his remarks, extended full cooperation to the department in all its future endeavors of creating mass awareness on conservation and protection of environment in the State.
Earlier, Prof Raj Kumar Rampal, Head, Department of Environmental Sciences presented a brief report of various awareness activities organized by the department.
R K Khajuria, president, AKAA and Coordinator SEER, made a very informative presentation on ‘The Himalaya’.
The function was attended by students and teachers of Activity Public School and Shiksha Niketan School, various departments of University, colleges and other schools.
Prof A K Raina (Rector, Udhampur Campus), Prof Emeritus S P S  Dutta, Dr Sanjay Sharma and others were also present on the occasion.
