SRINAGAR/JAMMU, Nov 20: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today filed his nomination paper from Beerwah constituency of Central Kashmir district of Budgam while 40 more candidates filed their nominations from Baramulla, Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag and Vijaypur constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar was accompanied by thousands of National Conference supporters to Beerwah where he filed his nomination papers before the Returning Officer Sajjad Ahmad Shah.
Chief Minister was greeted by his workers from Narbal to Beerwah and he interacted with them all along the route during the road show.
After filing his nomination papers, the supporters did not allow the NC leader to board his vehicle and instead urged him to walk through to Beerwah Bus Stand, where he addressed the rally.
The Chief Minister who shifted from Abdullahs’ home constituency of Ganderbal is contesting from Beerwah and Sonwar. In Beerwah, he faces PDP candidate, Dr Mohammad Shafi, who is seeking re-election.
Omar is the only candidate who filed his nomination papers from Beerwah today. Mir Fayaz Rahat of BJP filed his nomination papers from Budgam Assembly constituency.
Congress candidate Zahid Hussain and Abdul Latif Lone filed their nomination papers from Charar-e-Sharief today.
An Independent candidate Raj Singh filed his papers for Vijaypur segment of Samba district in Jammu region, which will go to polls in fourth phase. Three candidates had filed their papers from Vijaypur yesterday.
Two PDP candidates, Saifudin Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Bhat filed their nomination papers from Khansahib today.
Four candidates including Javed Mustafa Mir of PDP who is seeking re-election filed their nomination papers from Chadoora today. Those others who filed their nomination from Chadoora are Sajjad Ahmad Bhat of PDP, Ghulam Mohammad Pal of NCP and two independents Ghulam Ahmad Bhat and Bilal Ahmad Mir filed their nominations today.
From South Kashmir district of Pulwama 12 candidates filed their nomination papers today.
From Pampore constituency BJP candidate Ali Mohammad Wagey and Ghulam Mohammad Yatoo, an independent, filed their nomination papers today.
Mohammad Khalil Band of PDP, Fayaz Ahmad Mir of People’s Conference and Abdul Qayoom of PDF filed their nomination papers from Pulwama today.
Fayaz Ahmad Dar of Congress, Ghulam Mohidin Mir of NC, Haseeb Drabu of PDP and Syed Bashir Ahmad, independent, filed their nominations today from Rajpora.
Ghulam Mohidin Mir of Congress, Avtar Singh of BJP and Krishan Singh of NPP filed their nomination papers today from Tral.
Fifteen candidates from Baramulla filed their nomination papers today.
Aijaz Ahmad Khan of PDP and Mushtaq Ahmad Mir of BJP filed their nomination papers from Uri today.
From Gulmarg NC candidate and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah filed his nomination papers today. Two independent candidates Tejinder Singh and Shabir Ahmad Mir also filed their nomination papers today.
Six candidates Khawaja Mohammad Yaqoob of NC, Shoaib Lone of Congress, Nissar Ahmad Shah of Kissan Mazdoor Party, Farooq Ahmad Bhat of NPP, Ghulam Mohidin Bhat of PC and Ghulam Mohidin Sofi, independent filed their nomination papers today.
Salman Anees Soz of Congress, Mohammad Afsar Khan of Kissan Mazdoor Party and independents Ghulam Din Gulshan and Mohammad Rafiq Lone filed their nominations today.
