JAMMU, June 7: Goods worth lakhs were destroyed after a fire broke out in a residential structure at Kali Janni area here today.
Fortunately, no loss of life or injury was reported in the incident.
Officials said the fire erupted in the pooja room of one Deepak Gupta of Kali Janni area, possibly due to short-circuit and spread rapidly to other rooms, destroying appliances like air conditioners, refrigerators and other household goods worth several lakhs.
The flames were brought under control after hectic efforts by teams of Fire and Emergency Services and local police, they said.
Police have started further investigation taking cognizance of the incident.
