RAMBAN, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Ramban Mohammad Alyas Khan today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the functioning of the Rural Development Department and discuss the formulation of the developmental plan for the financial year 2026-27, with a special focus on sustainable development across rural areas of the district.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development Sheraz Ahmed; Chief Planning Officer Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; Block Development Officers of all eleven blocks of the district, besides other concerned officers.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the proposed developmental framework for this financial year and directed the Block Development Officers to prepare the plan with the involvement of all stakeholders, prioritizing basic infrastructure and area-specific developmental needs. He stressed the importance of adopting a grassroots-oriented approach to ensure equitable and effective development in rural areas.
Highlighting key priorities, the Deputy Commissioner instructed officers to focus on the development of playfields, restoration and preservation of water bodies, strengthening educational infrastructure and execution of projects based on local requirements. He emphasized that developmental planning should be practical, inclusive and aligned with the aspirations of the people.
The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed both physical and financial achievements registered under the District Capex Budget 2025-26, besides taking stock of progress under various Centrally Sponsored and flagship schemes being implemented by the department. He called for timely completion of ongoing works and directed officers to maintain transparency and quality in execution.
Assistant Commissioner Development briefed the chair on the progress achieved during the previous financial year and highlighted key accomplishments under different schemes.
