JAMMU, Apr 26: The Excise Commissioner, Jammu & Kashmir, Vaibhav Kohli, conducted surprise inspection of various liquor manufacturing units in the Samba district to review their functioning and ensure adherence to the provisions laid down under the J&K Excise Policy and Distillery Rules.
An official said that the visit was part of the Excise department’s ongoing efforts to strengthen regulatory oversight and maintain strict compliance within the Excise sector. During the inspection, the Commissioner examined operational procedures, production records, storage facilities, and documentation maintained by the units. Special emphasis was laid on verifying whether the manufacturing processes aligned with the prescribed norms, including quality control measures, stock accounting, and adherence to licensed capacities.
The inspection team also assessed compliance with safety standards and the implementation of measures aimed at preventing revenue leakage. The Commissioner directed the unit operators to ensure complete transparency in their operations and maintain accurate, real-time records of production and dispatch.
While interacting with the management of the manufacturing units, the Kohli reiterated the importance of strict adherence to the Excise Policy provisions. He emphasized that the policy framework is designed not only to regulate the industry but also to safeguard Government revenue and ensure the production of quality-controlled products. Non-compliance, he warned, would invite stringent action as per the law, including penalties, suspension, or cancellation of licenses.
Excise Commissioner issued a stern warning to all units to strictly follow the rules and avoid any violations. The department, he stated, will not tolerate negligence or deliberate non-compliance, and regular inspections will be intensified to monitor adherence.
