Srinagar, June 9: A Government School Principal was suspended after misbehaving with female students here and a three- member committee was constituted to probe the incident by Director School Education Kashmir.
Hundreds of protesters including female students from Government Higher Secondary School, Zainakote came out on Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway and protested against the school principal for allegedly misbehaving with female students.
The students alleged that the principal misbehaved with a 12th class girl student. “Principal is habitual of misbehaving with the girls of the school,” the protesting students said.
Thousands of pedestrians, passenger vehicles, school buses and Army convoy were stranded. Even some ambulances coming from different districts of North Kashmir were stuck in the jam for long time.
Heavy contingent of police rushed to the spot to assure smooth movement of traffic, but it triggered panic among the angry students, who resorted to stone pelting and engaged the police in ding dong battles for hours.
Eye witnesses said that there was no one from civil administration to give assurance to the students and to manage the mess of traffic on the highway.
Director School Education Kashmir, Mir Tariq Ali told Excelsior that after receiving complaints of harassment, the Principal Government Higher Secondary School, Zainakote has been placed under suspension.
He said that a three member committee has been constituted to probe the incident.
Ali further said that no laxity of behaviour on the part of officers shall be tolerated and hoped that all the students shall dedicate their time to their studies with discipline and high character.
