Police solve gold theft case within 72 hours

JAMMU, Feb 21: Police in Gandhi Nagar area have arrested two individuals in connection with a theft at Nanak Nagar area of the district reported 72 hours ago on February 18.
Addressing media persons at Gandhi Nagar Police Station, SP Jammu South, Ajay Sharma said on February 18, one Manjeet Singh son of Ranjeet Singh of Nanak Nagar Jammu, lodged a written complaint with Gandhi Nagar Police Station, reporting theft at his house when he and his wife were not home.
On this, he said, a case FIR number 41/2025 under sections 331(a)/305 BNS was registered at Gandhi Nagar Police Station and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, the SP Jammu South said that police teams from Gandhi Nagar, Gangyal, Trikuta Nagar, and other police posts within the jurisdiction of these police stations, coordinated with each other and using the human as well as technical intelligence, particularly CCTV cameras, detained two persons for questioning, one among them a juvenile.
During sustained interrogation, he said, the duo, with one who had purchased some gold items from the juvenile, was arrested, and produced before the court of law for seeking their custody.
The accused are being further quizzed to probe into their involvement, if any, in other crimes, he said.
Meanwhile, the police officer requested the people of Jammu to install CCTV cameras outside their houses in order to help police identify the anti-social elements.
