Guv directs Home Deptt to dispose pending cases in Sainik Welfare Deptt

 

JAMMU: Governor N N Vohra today directed the Home Department to dispose of  pending cases in the Sainik Welfare Department.

While presiding over the 76th meeting of J&K Rajya Sainik Board here at Raj Bhavan, Mr Vohra directed the officer representing the State Home Department to ensure that all pending issues relating to the Sainik Welfare Department are settled on most urgent basis.

The Rajya Sainik Board approved the establishment of a Committee chaired by Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary Home for the selection of ex -Defence Service officers to posts under the Sainik Welfare Department.

The Board also approved the amendment of the existing recruitment rules to enable the Sainik Welfare Department to fill up all the existing vacancies. For promoting employment of ex- Servicemen in various departments of the State Government, the Governor directed that the Home Secretary shall settle the pending proposal for providing vertical reservation, on most urgent basis.

The Governor also chaired the meeting of State Managing Committee for Funds, which discussed various issues relating to the budgetary support being provided by the State Government to the Department of Sainik Welfare, as also the contribution of the Kendriya Sainik Board to the J&K Rajya Sainik Board.

Mr Vohra, however, also emphasised the importance of the National Cadet Corps being promoted in the maximum possible number of educational institutions in the State.

“Such training imbues the youth with discipline, moral courage and the capacity to deal with unforeseen exigencies working as members of a team,” he said.

The Governor observed that, through its District and Zonal officers, the Department of Sainik Welfare should extend all required help to encourage and enable the youth who are desirous of joining the armed forces and assist institutions which train students to qualify for appearing before the Service Selection Boards.

Mr Vohra directed Ajit K Sahu, District Collector Jammu and Rajinder K Verma, District Collector Samba to expedite the land acquisition processes for enabling the early establishment of Sainik colonies at village Patti in district Samba and at village Barn in district Jammu. (AGENCIES)
