SRINAGAR, Apr 13: Senior PDP leader and former Finance Minister, Tariq Hameed Qarra today accused the National Conference of harassing people of Srinagar, particularly youth for none of their faults.
Addressing a workers meeting at Rajbagh in Amirakadal segment of Srinagar Parliamentary constituency, Qarra expressed concern that for even petty issues people of Srinagar were being harassed by the ruling party, which had let loose a Gunda Raj culture in the city.
He said NC has been taking Srinagarites for ride for many decades now and ignoring their day-to-day issues besides making them live their lives under the constant shadow of boots and bamboos, which have become an easy tool for the ruling party to suppress the city dwellers.
“Youth of the city have become main target of Omar Abdullah and the maximum people who got martyred in 2010 and majority of those against whom FIRs have been lodged belong to Srinagar,” he said, adding that even teenagers were not been left and hundreds of them have been put behind the bars under the draconian laws like PSA.
Qarra, who is PDP candidate for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency, said vote is the only solution to get ‘azadi’ from the NC and called upon people to come out in large numbers in the forthcoming polls to vote in favor of the PDP so that there is end of NC’s hooliganism. “It is the vote which only can change destiny and outlook of Srinagar,” he said.
The PDP leader said Kashmir is at the threshold of the history and people have to realize the fact and vote overwhelmingly otherwise the future generations would never forgive us for this gravest mistake.
On the occasion, Ab Hameed Kosheen, Ab Rahim Kuchair, Nisar Ahmad Mandoo, Haji Parvez Ahmad and many others also addressed the gathering.
