JAMMU, Feb 28: The eighth OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra today entered day 3 and the four day Yatra started on February 26, 2024 will culminate on February 29, 2024.
The Yatra started from Bhagat Sabha Reasi and moved to Zanana Park, Mohalla Muslim, main Bazars and Reasi Bus Stand, to village Kheral, Pouni, Bazar-village Devak, Bhambla and Sunderbani.
It was lead by working president of Udhampur District of OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra, Ashok Kumar, president of Barber Association, Kasturi Lal Basotra, chairman J&K OBC Mahasabha, Mohan Lal Pawar, general secretary OBC Mahasabha, Faquir Chand Satia, president AIBCF, Kewal Fotra, general secretary All J&K Sain Samaj, all J&K OBC Welfare Forum, Srinagar, Abdul Qadir, general secretary, Dhobi Welfare Central Committee, Rehamdeen Malik, president Teeli Community, Rakesh Kumar Verma, Viswkarma Sabha-Lohar Tarkhan Biradri, Balwant Katria, vice-chairman Vishwkarma Library New Plot and Bansi Lal Choudhary, convener OBC Adhikar Tiranga Yatra.
The participants in the Yatra said that J&K OBCs have rejected 12 per cent reservation in government Services and 10 per cent in Panchyati Raj System and in Municipalities as at present the population of OBCs in J&K is 42 per cent.
They demanded caste census with separate column for OBCs like SCs and STs. The Tiranga Yatra was welcomed in Udhampur and Katra.
