JAMMU, Nov 13: Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj (VKS) organized a function at Mini Township Jagti, where large number of internally displaced Kashmiri Pandits are putting up.
VKS a civil society group of KPs organized the function to interact with the community members putting up in camps.
Dr Tej N Kaul, Programme Director, Educational Assistance Programme of the Kashmir Overseas Association (KOA), USA was the special guest on the occasion. Dr Kaul is a founder member of this 28-year long education scholarship initiative that has empowered and befitted thousands of Kashmiri youth.
Kiran Watal, convener VKS along with Pintoo Ji president of Global Solace Society (GSS) read the welcome address.
Dr T N Kaul, in his address prayed for all around happiness and peace and hoped the community will travel back to its home. He said, he and his colleagues were ready to support community NGOs like Global Solace to open skill development centre in Jagti for youth re-skilling and employment.
Pintoo Ji complimented Dr Kaul and the current president of KOA, Dr Archana Kakroo, who has been instrumental in augmenting the KOA welfare programmes to increase their reach as well enhancing the scholarship amount.
On the occasion people put forth various problems and issues before Pandit. He assured that he will take up their issues with the concerned. Pandit has been very instrumental in highlighting the problems of KPs and it is because of his efforts that our children are getting admission in different colleges in different streams throughout the country.
Sanjay Koul, who visited from USA along with his wife Bela Koul, a social activist also assured all help and support from KP community from overseas.
Kiran Watal while talking about the various initiatives of VKS, said that his group has been consistent in helping the people of Jagti in times of need and generally and will continue to do so in future as well.
The event ended with a collective prayer and Puja.
