Srinagar, Nov 13: Mohammad Altaf Kar was elected today as the President of the Traders Federation in Pulwama during the elections held at the old Eidgah of the main market.
The elections were highly contested, and Altaf won by defeating Fayaz Ahmad by just 3 votes. Fayaz Ahmad secured 531 votes, while Altaf secured 533 votes, thus securing a four-year term in this year’s elections.
Usually held every four years, this year’s elections were conducted with much fanfare, drawing nearly 1500 voters out of a total of 2400 to cast their votes.
After winning the elections, Mohammad Altaf Kar expressed his commitment to working for the welfare of the traders. “I will focus on enhancing the livelihood of Pulwama’s traders and will be available round the clock for their needs. This responsibility is significant, and I will do my utmost to fulfil it,” he said.
