JAMMU, Dec 22: Desiring effective measures for promotion of Dogri language, the former Union Minister and MLA Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has wished all the success to the protagonists of this language in their efforts.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta, who had played his important role as a Minister at the Centre in 2003, for inclusion of Dogri in 8th Schedule of the Indian Constitution, observed that it was unfortunate that this language could not get its due earlier for over half a century unlike many other regional languages including Kashmiri.
He said that Dogri is the mother tongue of large number of patriotic people whose contribution in the creation of this big State of J&K and then defending it an integral part of the country is unmatched.
But, he regretted that they were not only neglected but were ascended a raw deal in many spheres of life including recognition and promotion of Dogri language although there had been due representation of this State at the Centre earlier to the NDA dispensation also.
Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta assailed the Centre in dragging their feet in grant of the Dogri Channel at DD Station of Jammu and hoped all concerned at the Centre would realize the need of it for promotions of the Dogri.
