KPs appeal Ministers, leaders to fulfill assurances on Temples’ Bill

JAMMU, Dec 22:  Kashmiri Pandits today made an appeal to all Ministers of the coalition and leaders of political parties to fulfill their commitment made with the Pt. Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBT) regarding passage of Shrines and Temples Bill.
The appeal was made in the meeting of the Trust here, today by its senior member H L Bhat. He said that the delegations of the Trust met all Ministers as well as leaders of various political parties who assured them their full support to the passage of the Kashmiri Hindu Shrine Bill.
The meeting said that the community is looking to these leaders and Ministers to fulfill their promise.
Addressing the meeting, Dr R L Bhat another senior functionary of the Trust said that survey of temples and shrines in Kashmir has been conducted and 1000 shrines and temples scared to Kashmiri Hindus have been listed by the Trust. He said most of these shrines have been encroached upon both by Government and land mafia.
Sundri Lal Koul another member of the Trust said that every day countless shrines are getting dismantled as land mafia is encroaching upon shrines land and cremation grounds in Valley.
The meeting was informed that the title of Maqbooza Ahal Hanood land has been changed during computerization of records in many districts.
The speakers were of the opinion that to put the stop on encroachment of temples and shrines land, the enactment of the law was the only solution. They said that the community is committed to take the struggle in this regard to logical conclusion.
Manmohan Thaploo, M K Raina, R L Koul, Sanjay Kumar Bali, Som Ji, Roshan Lal Pandita, Ashok Kumar, Pintoo Ji and Manoj Ji Kandroo were among others who were present in the meeting.
