JAMMU, Nov 27: A delegation of Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee met the Minister incharge Revenue Ajaz Ahmed Khan and apprised the Minister of the strong resentment brewing among the displaced persons of 1947 from PoK regarding inadequate proposed Rs 7000 crore package being mooted by the Government as one time settlement.
Led by Gurdev Singh, president of the Committee, the members described the package as totally unjustified and discriminatory. They said that it has been disapproved by the PoK refugees and Government must go for the review. They said proposing Rs 15 lakh for rural and Rs 20 lakh for urban area refuges, was highly unjustified proposition. Moreover the stake holders were not taken into confidence while proposing the package, they maintained.
The delegation demanded Rs 30 lakh package for the displaced families of PoK and de-freezing of the Assembly seats and the reimbursement of Rs 2500 with interest which was deducted as the cost of land allotted to the DPs by Government. The Minister listened to them patiently and assured that he will take up the issue
