JAMMU, Aug 6: Police today arrested a person for allegedly kidnapping and raping a school going girl in Soanjana area, falling under the jurisdiction of Phylan Mandal police post.
A police spokesman said that, Kuldeep Singh of Soanjana allegedly kidnapped a school going girl and took near to a secluded place, where he raped her.
After committing the crime, the accused fled from the spot, he said, adding that the girl narrated the incident to the parents, who lodged a case with Phylan Mandal Police Post against the accused.
The girl was restored to family members after completing legal formalities, while a case under relevant Sections was registered at Police Post Phylan Mandal against the accused.
On specific inputs, Police party led by SHO Hassan Kammal conducted a raid and arrested the accused.
