SRINAGAR, Aug 5: Prof. Kenji Isezaki, Head of Peace & Conflict Studies, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, called on N. N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan here today.
Prof. Isezaki briefed the Governor about the ongoing collaboration between the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies and the Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipore in teaching, research and exchange visits of faculty and students in the arena of Peace and Conflict Studies.
The Governor suggested to Prof. Isezaki to also consider the usefulness of collective endeavours for identification of practical approaches to deal with the fast emerging problems engendered by global warming and climate change, which are as threatening as military conflicts and terrorism.
Prof. Isezaki was accompanied by Aya Fukhda, Project Manager, Global Campus Programme, Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, and Sameer Yasir, Assistant Professor, Islamic University of Science and Technology, Awantipora.
John Samuel, Chief Postmaster General, J&K Circle, also called on Mr Vohra and briefed him about the continuing improvements being brought about in the functioning of the Department of Posts in the State and the new initiatives which are being taken to improve the delivery system to ensure against delays.
The Governor congratulated Samuel for taking the postal services to the farthest corners of the State and for upgrading the existing facilities. The Governor also complimented Samuel for the Postal Department earning a record revenue of Rs. 33 crore in 2012-13, which marked a growth of 50.06% over 2011-12.
Pandit Bhajan Sopori, Member of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board also met Mr. Vohra and discussed with him matters relating to the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra and offered several suggestions about improvement of the logistical arrangements for future Yatras.
