Srinagar, June 28: The authorities have directed the hospitals across Kashmir Division not to delay the essential health services for want of COVID-19 negative rest results.
The Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK) has told the district health officers that the requirement of a positive test for the COVID-19 virus is not mandatory for admission to COVID health facilities.
“In the interest of a better patient care, it is impressed upon Medical Superintendents / Administrators of all health institutions and healthcare service providers (public as well as private) not to delay the provision of essential health services (emergency / critical services like dialysis, cardiac care. obstetric & gynae, paediatric services, etc) to the public for want of Covid negative test results,” DHSK said, adding that any reports of denial of services on account of insistence on Covid test reports shall be viewed seriously.
Chief Medical Officers of respective districts & Medical Superintendents of District Hospitals shall monitor the adherence to the above directives and shall also ensure prompt redressal of grievances, if any, on this account.
In detailed directives, the CMOs and the Medical Superintendents of all District Hospitals were also informed that the requirement of a positive test for the COVID-19 virus is not mandatory for admission to a COVID health facility such as CCC, DCHC and DCH.
“A suspect case shall be admitted to the suspect ward of the respective health facility as the case maybe,” the DHSK said, adding that no patient will be refused services on any count.
“This includes medications such as essential drug or oxygen even if the patient belongs to a different city; no patient shall be refused admission on the ground that he/she is not able to produce valid identity care that does not belong to the city where the hospital is located,” DHSK told the officers in the district hospitals.
