Truckers arrested with 29 kgs poppy straw

JAMMU, Apr 11: Jawahar Tunnel and Sidhra police arrested two truckers along with 29 kilograms of poppy straw.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Police Post Jawahar Tunnel laid a naka and intercepted a truck bearing registration number PB02R-0067.
During checking, police team rescued 12 kilograms of poppy straw from the truck and arrested the driver, who was identified as Majer Singh, son of Gulzar Singh, a resident of Krishna Nagar Taran Taran road Amritsar Punjab.
The arrested driver confessed that he was illegally transporting the poppy straw from Kashmir to Punjab.
A case under FIR Number 52/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
The arrest and recovery has been made by Incharge Police Post Jawahar Tunnel Inspector Sameer Ahmed Batt under the supervision of SHO Banihal Inspector Nayeem Ul Haq, SDPO Banihal Ashish Gupta, Additional SP Ramban Rajni Sharma and SSP Ramban PD Nitiya.
Meanwhile, a team from Police Post Sidhra laid a naka at Bajalta Morh intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK02AM-3081, which was on way from Kashmir towards Jammu.
During frisking, police team recovered 17 kilograms of poppy straw from the vehicle and arrested the driver, who was identified as Sher Singh, son of Ram Singh of RS Pura District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 136/2021 under Section 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Nagrota and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Police Post Sidhra SI Shakeel Ahmed made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Nagrota Inspector Mohammad Shoket, SDPO Nagrota Parupkar Singh and SP Rural Sanjay Sharma.
