8 houses gutted, over 100 cattle perish in devastating fire

RAMBAN, May 10: Eight houses were gutted and over 100 cattle heads perished in devastating fire that broke in Tragen area of the Banihal tehsil on the intervening night of May 9 and 10.
Reports said that fire broke out suddenly in the cattle shed of Abdul Aziz Tachu in Tragen Tragam area of the Banihal tehsil last night and within minutes it engulfed all the eight houses situated adjoining each other. However, the occupants of these houses managed to save their lives.
In the devastating fire, all the eight houses were reduced to ashes and more than 100 cattle heads got perished. On getting information about the incident, troops of 23 Rashtriya Rifles swung into action but by that time the fire had caused massive devastation.
The houses which gutted in the fire belong to Mohd. Yousf Tachu, Ab waheed Tachu, Jamal Din Tachu, Ab Gani Tachu, Mohd. Rafiq Tachu, Jana begam and Ab Aziz Tachu.
Meanwhile, Minister of State for Technical Education, Power, CAPD and Information Vikar Rasool Wani  and Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Shyam Vinod Meena visited village and distributed relief which includes blankets, matters and cheques of Rs 4000 and free ration  for two months to each victim family.
Mr Vikar also provided food items, blankets and Rs 15,000 for each family from his CD fund.
Minister of State for Revenue and Relief, Aijaz Ahmed Khan has asked the Deputy Commissioner to assess  the loss and submit the  report to the Government as early as possible.
